Claim your studio, then prove it is yours

Legacy has been cataloguing studios for years, so there is a good chance yours is already here — with details someone else wrote. Claiming it hands you the page. Verifying it tells every artist who lands there that the studio behind it is real.

Claiming a listing that already exists

If your studio is already on Legacy, its page has a “Claim this studio” button. You tell us how you are connected to the business, upload whatever evidence you have — a utility bill, a business licence, a tax document, anything on official letterhead — and submit it.

A person reviews it. When it is approved, ownership of the listing transfers to your account, the page becomes yours to edit, and you are notified by email and in the app.

  • Evidence types: website link, utility bill, business licence, tax document, government ID
  • Upload supporting documents with your claim
  • Reviewed by an administrator, not an automated check
  • On approval the listing transfers to you and stops being claimable by anyone else

Verification, and what the badge is for

Claiming proves the listing is yours to manage. Verification goes a step further and confirms the business itself — you submit identity or business documentation, and an administrator reviews it.

A verified studio carries a badge on its page, on its card everywhere it appears, and can be filtered for in the studio finder. For an artist choosing between rooms they have never visited, that badge answers the question they are too polite to ask.

Why we bother reviewing by hand

A verified badge that anyone can self-award is worth nothing to the artist reading it, and therefore worth nothing to you. Both claims and verifications are reviewed by an administrator against the documents submitted.

It is slower than a checkbox. That is the entire point.

From unclaimed to verified

  1. 1

    Find your listing

Search the directory for your studio. If it is there, open it and hit “Claim this studio”.

  2. 2

    Submit your claim

Choose how you can evidence ownership, add a short message, and upload your documents.

  3. 3

    We review it

An administrator checks the evidence against the listing and approves or comes back to you.

  4. 4

    Verify the business

Once the listing is yours, submit verification documents to earn the badge.

Questions studio owners ask

My studio is listed but I never put it there. Is that normal?
Yes. Legacy has catalogued studios for years, so many listings pre-date their owner joining. Claiming is how you take control of one — and until you do, its details are whatever was on public record.
What if someone else claims my studio?
Claims are reviewed by an administrator against submitted evidence, and a claim on a studio that already has an owner is flagged as disputed for closer review rather than processed automatically.
What documents do you accept?
A link to your studio's website, a utility bill, a business licence, a tax document or government ID — whatever genuinely connects you to the business. You can attach files to the claim.
How long does it take?
Claims and verifications are reviewed by a person, so it is not instant. You are notified by email and in the app as soon as a decision is made.
